HOTEL'S NOTE :
Of course we´ve had unhappy customers . Fortunately very few , the great majority of our guests are seasoned travelers that appreciate and seek this type of European INN . Unhappy customers that demand a 4 star service , but want to pay 40 / 50 usd. Non travelers that are out of reality of what to expect from a nice but small INN like ours . One unhappy client complained about the extra charge of having a taxi come specially to pick him up, well he doesn't know that when taxis are specially called from a taxi stand there is a surcharge . Other guest that complained about the silk plants where there isn´t enough light to plant real ones. Complains about our house rules : No visitors allowed in rooms ( security is a must in our INN ) . No food or drinks in rooms. ( this is tropical weather , we need to control pests constantly , we cannot spray inside the rooms . Food and drinks are allowed in designated areas where we can control pests. We have stayed in INNs in Key West , that charged $ 80 usd. per night in low season and were'nt half as nice and helpfull as ours. Hotels of $ 55 usd. in Miami are SO DIRTY that one cannot take shoes off to go to the shower. If while staying with us you find something is wrong , we will TAKE IMMEDIATE ACTION to correct it , just let us know instead of complaining after you have checked out. As a lone lady traveler of mature years, but thankfully fit and greatly enjoying a retirement spent exploring the world. How lucky to discover El Patio Inn, Cancun. My 10 day stay there had all the elements I look for.
Reasonably priced accommodation in a clean comfortable room with bathroom and a nice shower
Charming hosts, who kindly re-united me with belongings left behind.
Situated away from the noise and main hotel zone, but still just a five minute walk through a park to the centre of town. Here one can take a bus or Collectivo very cheaply to reach any attraction, beach, shops, ferry to the islands or longer excursions
I would recommend El Patio INN to anyone seeking a central location where they would always feel safe. Friendly staff helped me with advice and suggestions, until I got orientated.

I am writing to thank you for all your help and to let you know that we thoroughly enjoyed your INN. It is such a beautiful place. Martin and Alex were both very helpful, but we all fell in love with Martin. He was very amused by my son's Spanish too. We will definitely be back, next time with my husband. The only thing I would not do again is go to Mango Tango. Maybe it has gone down hill in recent years, but we thought the food was mediocre and expensive, and the show was not that good. Los Almandros and La Parilla are excellent choices for people to eat at and they are nearby. Why anyone would stay in the Hotel Zone is beyond me!!!!
Thank you so much for all your advice, and please tell Martin we all missed him this morning when we woke up here in snowy New England.

I recently stayed at El Patio while waiting to join a tour group of the
Yucatan area. From the very beginning your reception and check-in was
fast, efficient and very friendly I was most pleasantly surprised by the
great value of your accommodations which were spotlessly clean and very
nice. I loved lingering in your beautiful lush courtyard and found
everyone so friendly and helpful. And, I really appreciated the
quietness and security of your hotel as well and its great location
close to the main street. I will most certainly be email again for a

My sister and I recently spent two nights at your lovely hotel after 10 days
of exploring the Mayan ruins of the Yucatan Peninsula. We greatly enjoyed
our stay. Our room was clean, cozy and quiet. An added bonus was frequent
visits from the resident cat Misha. She was great company for two "cat
fanatics" who were missing our own kitties!
We found Cancun City to be a much more desirable place to stay than in the
expensive "hotel zone." A quick taxi ride took us to sandy beaches, and
within 5 minutes walking distance we found a large grocery store, (supermarket)
handicraft vendors, banks with ATM machines (!), and a great pizza place.
The morning coffee and toast was also much enjoyed.
We would definitely stay at the "El Patio" again!

Forget the "plastic palaces" and their huge rates and uninterested personnel.
Try this lovely, super-clean hotel around the corner from Howard Johnson's
on Bonampak Street. Neat, nifty, NOT expensive and a place for travelers.
If you are just a tourist and wish to hit the high life bars in the other
hotels, skip this place. BUT, if you want comfort, congeniality, cleanliness
and a lovely lady (I believe is the owner) named Lia (whose English is
superb) come here.

About a month ago, I returned from a wonderful week-long trip to Cancun
and wanted to recommend the terrific hotel I stayed at. Always looking
for a bargain, I decided to stay downtown rather than on the more
touristy , impersonal (and expensive) island. The Cancun Suites El Patio
(http://cancun-suites.com) is run by a wonderful couple, Lia & Silvain,
who put a lot of themselves into making your stay in Cancun special.
Before I even arrived, I received a long email message from them giving
me advice about getting to the hotel from the airport, making rental car
reservations, etc. As soon as I got to the hotel, Lia warmly greeted me
and spent at least half an hour showing me the hotel, giving me maps,
suggesting good restaurants, and answering all my questions. Throughout
my stay, she and her husband were always available, and along with their
staff, helped make it a great trip.
The hotel is located just a couple of blocks from the main tourist district of downtown Cancun,
so it's very close to restaurants, stores, the
supermarket, movie theater, etc. It's a very nice, quiet neighborhood,
and the bus to the beach stops right outside the door.
The hotel itself is small--just 12 rooms arranged around a lovely, lush
courtyard with tons of plants and a fountain. My room was
perfect--Mexican tile floor, lovely traditional Mexican style furniture,
comfortable bed (I have a bad back, so that was a big relief), and very
effective air conditioning. And the place was absolutely immaculate.
While the rooms have neither phone nor TV (I didn't miss or need either
all week), there is a nice common room on the first floor with a TV,
boom box, books, maps, couches, etc. And there's also a public phone on
the first floor.
I can't wait til my next trip there!

How nice to receive your 'thank you' email, when I had already decided to
send you one when we got back.
We did enjoy our stay in Cancun and in El Patio - it was nice and quiet and
got the breeze from the sea, plus it was nice to meet with you + Sylvan.
Then a final 2 days back at the Tankah Inn, before returning back to the
very cold (4 degrees C!!) UK.
It was raining too, which was not a good welcome back!
Now - it is back to work etc, before the sun tan and the memories fade!

Robin and his ankle.
He is still limping slightly, but it has continued to improve each day, and

There have also been guests that have abused our staff and tend to minimise and justify their abuse
by damaging our hard obtained reputation. They usually ask for the MOST economic rate but demand 5 star
services. We have a list of abusive guests. If your ever hear a bad commentary about us , please ask us
what that person has done .
